Couldn't load pickup availability
An original engraving from "The Illustrated London News" that has been hand coloured. Watercolour paint (a small amount of ink may also have been used) was applied with a brush by J. Tenpismire in his studio. The date of the published engraving is 1865. The image shows a tube arriving at the Holborn End. The page size is approx. 8 x 11 inches and scanned at 300 dpi. Noted from Wikipeadia...The Opening Day Spectacle: On October 10, 1865, the grand inauguration was marked by a highly unconventional PR stunt. The chairman (the Duke of Buckingham) and several company directors were loaded into a capsule and bodily blown through the tube from Holborn to Euston—completing the journey in just five minutes
